October 1, 2004 - Day 10

After Sawyer refuses to provide Jack and Sayid with Shannon’s inhalers, Sayid administers torture on Sawyer. When Kate arrives to get the inhalers from Sawyer, she grants his request of kissing him for the whereabouts of the inhalers, only to find out he never had them. Charlie and Claire enjoy some "imaginary peanut butter" and Claire agrees to live at the caves. Sayid leaves his survivors out of shame, and heads down the beach to map the island.


October 2, 2004 - Day 11

October 3, 2004 - Day 12

Ana-Lucia creates a makeshift weapon out of a stick and a boomerang that she plans to use for hunting boar, and she and Goodwin notice Nathan emerging from the jungle 2 hours after he had left. The Tail Section Survivors are attacked, and nine among them are abducted. In the process of trying to stop this, Ana-Lucia was tackled by a woman and Ana kills her with a large rock nearby, and inside the pocket of the woman she discovers a US Military knife, and a list of names and descriptions of the nine that were just taken. The survivors make a conscious decision to vacate the beach and proceed into the jungle.


While heading down the beach, Sayid notices a wire hidden beneath the sand, he follows it into the jungle and accidentally springs a rope trap.


October 4, 2004 - Day 13

Hurley find golf clubs in the newly discovered luggage and sets off to create a golf course for the survivors to have fun. Sayid awakens to pure agony as he is severely shocked by the woman he would later be introduced to as Danielle Rousseau, the same woman who left the transmission 16 years ago. Sayid fixes Danielle’s music box for her, and escapes with one of her rifles when she leaves to investigate a noise. The two face each other in a standoff in the jungle, and part ways. Upon returning to the camp, Sayid hears whispers surrounding him in the jungle.


October 5, 2004 - Day 14

October 6, 2004 - Day 15

The survivors at the caves becomes startled when Claire awakens claiming she was attacked after she was sleepwalking.


After three days of venturing through the jungle, the remaining Tail Section survivors halt their expedition after Nathan claims that their current location is adequate.


October 7, 2004 - Day 16

While looking for the man who attacked Claire, Hurley decides to take a census of the island. In doing so, he discovers that Ethan was not aboard Flight 815. Sayid returns to the camp and alerts the group that they are not alone on the island, and Charlie and Claire are kidnapped by Ethan in the jungle.


While traveling through the jungle, Jack encounters Ethan and engages in a physical fight; Ethan delivers the threat of killing one of his captors if Jack does not stop following him. Jack continues his pursuit, and he and Kate find a hanging Charlie suspended by vines; Jack eventually revives him. At night, Boone and Locke discover a mysterious piece of metal in the ground, and begin to unearth it.


October 8, 2004 - Day 17

Ana-Lucia begins digging a pit, and she explains to Libby that the reasoning for doing so is that she believes Nathan is not one of them.


October 9, 2004 - Day 18

Claire is administered a series of tests by Ethan inside the DHARMA Medical Station, while under the assumption that she has yet to board Oceanic Flight 815 or arrive on the island. Claire receives her first vaccine from Ethan which he states is "medicine" for her baby to prevent it from getting sick.


October 10, 2004 - Day 19

Ana-Lucia attacks Nathan and throws him in the pit, she alerts her fellow survivors to her suspicion of him not being on the plane, this claim is backed up by Cindy who claims she didn’t see him either.


October 11, 2004 - Day 20

October 12, 2004 - Day 21

Claire is given another vaccine for her child by Ethan inside the DHARMA Medical Station, and is shown the room where her child will be kept after it is born. Ethan is called over by Tom who reprimands him for not completing his task of "making the list" before brining Claire to the station.


While swimming near a waterfall, Kate and Sawyer find two dead bodies in the water, and the two retrieve a silver Halliburton case. Sawyer takes possession of it after Kate claims it isn’t hers. The tide on the beach rapidly shifts, and the survivors move their things down the beach. Shannon is sought out by Sayid for help translating the French on Rousseau’s documents.


October 13, 2004 - Day 22

Jack retrieves the Halliburton Case from Sawyer, and he and Kate dig up the Marshal to find the key to the case. Inside the case, they discover guns and a toy plane from Kate’s past. The camp moves up the coast, and sets up camp there. Shannon realizes why the French on Rousseau’s notes were so familiar as they were song lyrics from “La Mer”.


October 14, 2004 - Day 23

Goodwin talks with Ana-Lucia, who tells him that if Nathan doesn't tell her that he is an Other, she'll cut off his finger. That night, Goodwin releases Nathan, and after pretending to show compassion towards him, Goodwin breaks Nathan's neck. He then proceeds to hide the body.


October 15, 2004 - Day 24

Cindy alerts the Tail Section survivors that Nathan is gone, and Ana decides it is time to continue moving through the jungle as they have been found.


Locke and Boone travel to the Hatch in attempts to open it and Boone informs Locke that he plans to tell Shannon about what they are doing, Locke obliges and then strikes Boone with the blunt end of his knife. Locke ties Boone up and places a salve on his head which induces a vision quest for Boone through the jungle in which he witnesses Shannon “eaten” by the “Monster”.


Nikki approaches Dr. Arzt for help in determining where her lost luggage may have landed on the island, and he informs her about his entomological specimens, including a female Medusa spider. While Nikki and Paulo search for their bag, which contains the stolen diamonds, they come across a plane stuck in the trees and a mysterious manhole.


October 16, 2004 - Day 25

October 17, 2004 - Day 26

The Tail Section survivors arrive at the ocean after walking through the jungle.


Michael searches for Walt in the jungle and discovers him with Locke who is teaching Walt how to throw a knife; Michael tells Locke that if he sees him with Walt again that he would kill him.


October 18, 2004 - Day 27

Ethan and Claire leave the DHARMA Medical station for the first time and sit outside on a tree stump. Ethan confesses to Claire that he's going to miss her after she's delivered her child and returned to her camp, and Claire states that maybe she doesn't have to go, it is then that Ethan reminds her that there's only enough vaccine for her child. Ethan then tells her that nobody is going to take her baby from her, and that she has a choice. Ethan tells her that they're "good people" and a "good family".


Michael devises the idea of building a raft to get off the island. Walt ignores Michael’s request and Michael burns his comic book. Walt heads into the jungle to find Vincent, Locke and Michael follow after him, and discover Walt is being attacked by a polar bear. That night, Michael present Walt with all the cards and letters he wrote him over the years.


The Tail Section survivors uncover a hidden bunker, and enter to find a trunk filled with a Bible, blankets, a mysterious glass eye and a radio which Ana and Goodwin take to higher ground in attempts to retrieve a signal. While there Ana reveals to Goodwin that she is aware is one of “them” and murders him after a physical confrontation.


Claire escapes from the DHARMA Medical Station with the help of Alexandra Rousseau. Claire, delirious, calls out for Ethan and states that she's sure she wants to give him her child. Danielle sees this and attempts to quiet her to prevent her from being recaptured by Ethan and "The Others". Danielle is scratched on the arm in the process, and knocks Claire out with the butt of her rifle and carries her back to the camp close enough to be found by her fellow Oceanic survivors.


While looking for Vincent in the jungle very early in the morning, Boone and Locke discover a disoriented Claire who passes out in Locke’s arms. When Claire awakens she reveals she is unaware of who everybody is, and that she doesn’t remember being taken by Ethan.


October 19, 2004 - Day 28

Charlie walks with Jin in the jungle, and after Jin is knocked unconscious by the force of a rock launched via slingshot, Ethan reveals himself and his intentions of killing a survivor every day if Claire is not returned to him. Sentry posts are set-up around the camp to prevent a possible attack.


October 20, 2004 - Day 29

In the morning, Steve is discovered dead on the beach, and Locke claims that the sentry posts failed because Ethan came in from the water. Jack, Sayid, Locke, Kate, and Sawyer head into the jungle with Claire with the plan of presenting Ethan with what he wants and then ensnaring him, when this is accomplished, Charlie kills Ethan by shooting him six times before any questions could be asked.

Claire reveals to Charlie that she remembers peanut butter but she does not know why, Charlie then informs him of their previous joke about “imaginary peanut butter”. When Claire asks if they are friends, Charlie confirms that they are.


Sawyer’s tent is raided by a boar who escapes with his tarp, while chasing the boar through the jungle, Sawyer hears whispers surrounding him.


October 21, 2004 - Day 30

Sawyer questions Sayid about the whispers that he hears while traveling back from Rousseau’s. Kate and Sawyer head out into the jungle to track the boar, and Kate requests carte blanch. Charlie and Hurley bury Ethan, and Hurley has a suspicion that Ethan would awake from the dead. While camping out, Kate and Sawyer play “I Never”.


October 22, 2004 - Day 31

Kate and Sawyer awake to see that Sawyer’s possessions have been destroyed by the same boar they were tracking. After finding the boar in the jungle, Sawyer opts not to kill it and returns the gun to Jack. While speaking with Jack, Sawyer realizes that he had had a drink with Jack’s father before the plane crash.


Arzt, and Shannon confront Kate about the fact that she, Jack, and Sawyer had been hiding their discovery of the Marshal's gun case.


October 23, 2004 - Day 32

Nikki asks Kate where she and Sawyer found the case. At the waterfall where the case was found, Nikki has Paulo dive in to look for the diamonds. Paulo finds them, but he does not tell her, fearing that if she had the diamonds, she would leave him.


At night, the raft is set ablaze, and Michael accuses Jin of being the prime suspect.


October 24, 2004 - Day 33

Sawyer heads into the jungle to bring Jin back. When they arrive on the beach, Michael delivers a beating to Jin which is eventually stopped by Sun who reveals to the group that she speaks English. Locke informs the group that they’re not the only people on the island. Jin leaves Sun and moves back to the beach. Michael states that he's going to build a better raft. Locke discovers that Walt was the one that burned the raft.


October 25, 2004 - Day 34

Jin arrives on the beach with bamboo to help Michael build the second raft. Sayid and Shannon spend their night on the beach together, Sun soaks her feet in the water at the beach, Claire and Charlie walk the shoreline of the beach together, and the batteries on Hurley's CD player die.


October 26, 2004 - Day 35

Hurley discovers the “numbers” on written on some of Rousseau’s notes that Sayid possessed. Later that night, Hurley questions Sayid about them, and takes on of his maps from him.


October 27, 2004 - Day 36

Hurley heads out into the jungle to find Rousseau, and is followed by Jack, Charlie and Sayid. Claire and Locke begin building an object. Hurley encounters Rousseau in the jungle and asks her about the numbers only to discover she wasn’t aware of their power, he retrieves a battery from her and reunites with his camp. Claire reveals that it is her birthday, and Locke reveals that the object they were building was a cradle for her child.


October 28, 2004 - Day 37

October 30, 2004 - Day 39

Locke and Boone construct a trebuchet to break the glass on the door of the hatch, but it fails. A piece of metal that shattered off became lodged in Locke’s leg, and he hadn’t noticed until Boone pointed it out. Later that night, Locke pokes himself with a safety pin and uses a torch on his foot and realizes he has no feeling in his legs.


October 31, 2004 - Day 40

Locke has a vision of a Beechcraft crashing and seeing a bloody Boone reciting “Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs..”, as well as his mother in the jungle, and himself back in a wheelchair.
