The poem on which Locke's Map is being drawn might be a hint that what Locke is trying to figure out in a rational way (i.e. where and what the "?" is) will be solved by someone else, thanks to a more naive and intuitive approach - see the poem line "two children born yesterday will know more than we do". Alternatively, this line could refer to Aaron and Walt
This theory was brought up by another poster. It has nothing to do with Aaron and Walt, but rather refers to Nikki and Paulo. Where and what the "?" is was solved by them, as the just stumbled across it in a naive and intuitive way. Paulo entered it already at the time John was still contemplating this.
