Season 5Edit

Season 5 began airing on January 21, 2009 and continues the stories of a group of more than forty people who have been stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific after their airplane crashed ninety-three days prior to the beginning of the season. Only six of them managed to escape the mysterious island. But now, they must return to the island because Locke, under the alias of Jeremy Bentham, says that "bad things had happened in the island" and they must return to the island to set things right.

Jack and Ben begin to formulate a plan to return to the island. Back on the island, Faraday and the survivors begin to experience time jumps due to Ben and Locke's movement of the island.

The Lie
The Lie

The remaining survivors on the island continue to deal with the shifts through time. Flashforwards show Hurley's rampant attempts to revive Sayid after an attack by unknown assailants, meanwhile Ben further his efforts to return the Oceanic Six to the island.

At the advice of Daniel, Desmond heads to Oxford in search of Faraday's mother. Meanwhile, in 1954, the survivors and the freighter team are captured by Alpert's men, and Daniel negotiates a way to disarm a hydrogen bomb.

The group continues to make their way to the Orchid Station in the hopes of stopping the increasingly violent flashes. Meanwhile, off-island, Jack, Ben, Sun and Desmond arrive at the church to meet with Eloise Hawking.

Eloise Hawking informs Jack, Sun and Ben the circumstances of how they are to return to the island. Kate agrees to return to the island with Jack, under the condition that he not ask about Aaron. While aboard the plane, Sayid, Hurley and Frank Lapidus make unexpected arrivals.

After "breaking the rules" by returning to the island, Ben must atone for his past and present sins by summoning and facing the Monster for judgment. Aiding him on this bizarre quest is John Locke, the man Ben supposedly killed as a catalyst to return to the island.

Following young Ben's deliverance to the Others, Sawyer and company are increasingly forced to explain their actions in wake of the boy's absence. Elsewhere, Miles past connection to the DHARMA Initiative is revealed as he and Hurley interact with a senior member of the Initiative.

Upon returning to the island, Daniel Faraday begins a quest to prevent the very disaster that led the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815's ongoing peril. Elsewhere, Sawyer and the other survivors reach a breaking point in their hidden positions within the DHARMA Initiative.

Following the acquisition of the hydrogen bomb, Jack and Sayid attempt to destroy the energy source buried beneath the Swan site, despite opposition from other time-displaced survivors. In present day, Locke is led by Richard and the Others to Jacob's location, despite Locke's hidden ulterior motives.
