Matthew Fox was born on July 14, 1966 in Crowheart, Wyoming. Matthew was raised on his family ranch, where his parents raised longhorn cattle and horses, and also grew barley for Coors beer. After high school, Matthew entered Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts for a post-graduate high school study. Fox later attended Columbia University, where he played football and majored in Economics. Fox's intent was to work on Wall Street, but a former girlfriend's mother convinced him to try modeling, which led to roles in television commercials. Fox then studied for two years at The School for Film and Television in New York City, and has continued acting ever since. Matthew is currently married to Margherita Ronchi, his wife since 1991, and has two children, Kyle and Byron Fox.
