She has directed episodes of many television series including Dawson's Creek, ER, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Smallville, Cold Case, Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, The Inside, Alias, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Point Pleasant and One Tree Hill.

Marita Grabiak is a television director and writer whose career has spanned over three decades. Some of her television directing credits include ER, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Smallville, Wonderfalls, Gilmore Girls, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Alias, Bones, and Law & Order: SVU.
Raised in small town Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Grabiak studied Theater at Carnegie Mellon University and earned a degree in Motion Picture/Television with a minor in Art History from UCLA. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Grabiak lived in NYC for a year and worked with other theater students gaining various experiences Off Broadway.
Anadventure seeking, world traveler and documentarian, Grabiak also photographically captures cultural history and wildlife. Going off the beaten track in Africa, she made short films about the Maasai tribe and the Himbas and Bushmen indigenous peoples in Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Zanzibar the Spice Island. She has photographed Victoria Falls from every angle - from the sky, to white water rafting down the Zambezi from the base of the falls. Grabiak even jumped into the river from Livingston Island, and peered over the edge of Victoria Falls with her camera to obtain the cascade from the top .
Her other short filmtopics have included: the poetical The Silk Road in Central Asia, filming in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (one of the most difficult to enter countries in the world), And POLAND : Three Generations traveling with her daughters and her 90 year old mother, she took them to visit the villages of her mother’s Turn of the Century parents. On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, she traveled to Normandy to meet, and obtain footage on WWII veterans .
A trail blazer for women directors, and one of the few women to direct sci-fi, , her 2017 adventure was in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, 2018 will be the Russian Trans Siberian Express.
