Jorge Garcia was born on April 28, 1973, in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to being a successful actor, Garcia has also been a fairly popular stand up comedian. The choice of Jorge for the role of Hugo "Hurley" Reyes may have come, in part, due to his role in an episode of the HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, which the producers of Lost immediately recognized him from. While filming Lost, Garcia was forced to miss his sister's wedding, as he was filming over in Hawaii.
