Ethan approaches Jack and gives him a suitcase of medical supplies, and the two discuss the possibility of Claire delivering her baby on the island.

Jack is approached by Ethan who introduces himself and present a suitcase full of medical supplies that he claims he found in the jungle, and the two joked that the suitcase must have belonged to a hypochondriac. Ethan then thanks Jack for bringing all of the medical supplies together, and having perspective about the prospect of not being rescued.
Ethan then turns Jack's attention to Claire and states that he may have to deliver the baby on the island. Jack states that if Claire does go into labor, that he would have an assistant, to which Ethan does not comment. Before leaving, Ethan mentions to Jack that his wife died during childbirth, and that the baby didn't make it either, and that he hopes that they're both wrong and rescue is on its way.

- Jack states that if Claire goes into labour, that he would have Ethan as an assistant. This is ironic as Ethan would later be murdered in Homecoming, immediately after a fight with Jack.
- Ethan says that Jack is not alone, making reference to The Others.
- Ethan is one of the Other's doctors. Therefore, the meds may have been brought from the Other's camp, as opposed to being found in the wreckage.
