Ivy Tennant was a model who posed for one of Jeff Hadley's many painting. The painting of her, Jeff thought of as a parody of Botticelli's Birth of Venus. The painting was supposed to depict the human form in a horrific setting. That night they made love.
Ivy and Jeff became very close during the time they spent together, however, Ivy was heartbroken when Jeff accepted a professorship at the Robert Burns College in Lochheath, Scotland. Jeff accepted the job, but did not tell her that she would not be joining him until weeks later when he left.
