Is anybody else as excited as I am?. :D *glee!* †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --10:34, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Well it depends, www & email are doable - billboards, phonecalls & commercials might be a bit more difficult task if you don't reside in the U.S. --skks 10:38, 24 April 2006 (PDT)
But, that's part of the game, worldwide collaboration! I just wonder how they will work in the fact that season 2 is just beginning in some parts of the world... --Bremerton 10:11, 25 April 2006 (EDT)
Also, different clues will be released on different continents, so collaboration is necessary to solving it. This article is going to grow a lot longer over the next few months. --PatrickLacey

More explanation...?

I'm new to this stuff. What, exactly, does it entail? Do we take tidbits we learn from wherever and just compile it all together here on Lostpedia?--Charugan 13:05, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Doesn't have to be here at Lostpedia - I am sure information will be shared on many sites and boards. It's a sort of scavenger hunt taking place "in real life"...websites, billboards, books, commercials, etc. The writers have said it will kick off with a commercial during the May 3 episode - I'm assuming it'll have a website or phone number. (My guess - a Widmore Labs ad!) --Bremerton 15:00, 25 April 2006 (PDT)

Bullets vs. Paragraphs

This is a question of style and aesthetics, I guess, but when I created this article this morning I wrote about three nice paragraphs. Next thing I know someone has converted them all to bullets, which, in my opinion, are much harder to read. A lot of really long articles around here are nothing but bullets, which looks really junky to my eyes. Is there a precedent for this? --Joezoo 17:53, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

I'll come forward as the converter. I've seen it done before; personally, I work with bullets better, but I guess it's just a personal preference kind of thing. Sorry to change it from what you had... Feel free to change it back. --Charugan 19:39, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Much obliged, sir. I'm not "anti-bullet," but I think they definitely work better with short thoughts or list items than with complete sentences and entire paragraphs. --Joezoo 21:16, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

UK Season 2 Premiere

So i've just finished watching triple bill of Season 2, the third episode being 'Orientation'. There were several adverts shown, of which one was repeated twice and the other was repeated three times.

The advert repeated twice was a new MI3 TV trailer that was introduced by JJ Abrams. The other trailer was an advert for the 'Hanso Foundation' with a phone number: 0800 66 66 40. I phoned up the number and (amusingly) a recorded voice suggests the caller check out the Hanso Foundation website for more information.

I guess this is the start of the 'Lost Experience' then!--deep 17:01, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Copied discussion from The Lost ARG entry

So far this is UK only, it's doubtful that the article remains anywhere near the same when the US ARG starts. This should probably be mentioned in the article. --skks 15:03, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

I'm afraid I havn't got time to do any transcribing on this tonight, but I will tomorrow if no-one else has. I presume this ARg will start soon in the US, and will have identical content (the mentions of Verizon, a US mobile carrier, in the phone calls means it isn't just for us in the UK). I'll do what I can to tidy it up and add more in the morning. This is fun :) --Beeglebug 23:14, 2 May 2006 (GMT)

Hi, I really think this is going to expand and expand and expand (having had ARG experience before). It needs to be treated as such. I really think we should have more sections. Like one for phone number, one for websites, Passwords, etc. Sezzyboy 15:18, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

As the game and this page grows, that will be possible. I'm sure there are plenty of quotes that will be lifted for lostpedia use! Russell 15:27, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

This page should be kept for discussion about the ARG itself. There should be links to mysteries on individual pages. Already, there was old info on this page which didn't match the main website article. Char 01:03, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

There needs to be a link on the front page to ARG discussion, this is going to be BIG when it starts rolling, and we need the whole Lospedia community to help. If it's anything like other ARG's i've participated in there may be prizes for those who 'complete' it first, and we want the Lostpedia to win! :) Beeglebug 01:07, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

there are no prizes--Arcon 04:41, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Usage

Hi, I recommend we use this page as a portal, taking the reader through the game as it plays out. I've already added a seperate page solely for the phone line information. Assuming there is more to come, i've split it into dates with each seperate message under a new heading so we can link to information easily. I suggest we use the front page ONLY to describe what's in the main articles and use those articles for all research and individual speculation in their own discussions. This page should be where all the Lost fans who are playing the ARG should come and get up-to-date quickly. --Arcon

I agree. What you describe is commonly called a "Guide" in ARG parlance. So you use other forums (such as yahoo groups, and unfiction) to identify and solve the puzzles as they arise, and this page to track what has been solved, how it was solved and what remains unsolved. Sould be great fun! Sezzyboy 12:28, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Add a category?

Could someone start a new category (or categories) for this game and move the new pages into it? I haven't been playing the game (yet...?) so with all the new pages popping up, it's not immediately clear to me what's part of the game and what's not. If there was a category, that would be helpful. Thanks. --Elvis 07:33, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Sure, if everyone who creates ANYTHING for this ARG could add the "Category: The Lost Experience" like the others, it would be helpful to track all these pages.--Arcon 13:02, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Need a page for verified and fan sites

Given the tendency for LOTS fans to make their own fan sites, maybe we should have a page that list various webpages that have come up and whether they are official or not (actually, that would be nice for lost sites just in general) BladeHamilton 09:36, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Nevermind, I just found the list of websites. BladeHamilton 10:02, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Sites related to the game?

By doing some WHOIS lookups and other network trickery, I've managed to come up with a list of sites that are possibly related to the game -- it seems pretty evident that these sites are related, as they're either registered by ABC or call pages/images from an ABC-registered domain.

http://www.thehansofoundation.org - Verified as an ABC Web Site

http://www.widmore.com - Verified by WHOIS lookup as a registered Web Site to ABC, Inc.

My WHOIS lookup claims this is not an official site. Any more info?--Bremerton 06:27, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
my whois shows this to be an abc owned site. internic redirects to whois.wildwestdomains.com registered through chapter zero domains to abc inc, 77 w. 66th st in nyc. --firesign 12:56, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

http://www.minnesotametallurgy.com - Verified by WHOIS lookup as a site registered to Cameron Widmore, 320 W 66th St, New York, NY (Known address of ABC Studio for "The View").

http://www.thewidmoregroup.com - Not verified, however pages and images served in the gallery on minnesotametalurgy.com come from this domain.

http://www.hansogroup.com - Not verified, however going to the main page of thewidmoregroup.com redirects you through this url and then passes you off to thehansofoundation.org.

Bseils 19:36, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

the minnesotamettalurgy site, which was working fine yesterday and this morning for me, is now giving me a 403 error. there were some interesting looking pictures in the gallery there. perhaps an update is coming, maybe with more clues? assuming that this is/was a valid site of course. im guessing it was due to the address being an abc one. --firesign 15:11, 5 May 2006 (PDT)

update: http://www.minnesotametallurgy.com/ now returns a 404 not found error. --firesign 12:50, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

Update: http://www.thewidmoregroup.com now redirects to http://www.widmorelabs.net which displays a message that they are updating the site, and would you please check out their parent company at http://www.thewidmoregroup.com ?--Beardog4314 11:26, 11 May 2006 (PDT)

List Change: I separated those sites that are related in some way to the game, although not directly part of the game environment. The ABC, BBC and Lost Ninja Blogs are definitely privy to inside information, so should be viewed differently from sites that are "fan-sponsored".--Bernini 16:09, 12 May 2006 (PDT)

Progress

Hi, I think it'd be a good idea if we set up some kind of progress page, whereby we list a step by step guide of how to get everyone up to date:

i.e. 1) Phone call, 2) Login to newsletter, 3) Joop's Corner etc.

Listing the order we did things will mean that any new people to the game will know what they should be doing to catch up easily, especially since Joop's corner wont work until you've logged in etc.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing. If I weren't in the middle of packing my life up in order to move across the country, I'd do it myself. -- C13 06:17, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
  • I really enjoy this game's concept and I am wholeheartedly an active participant. But is enyone else finding what we're doing rather dry and unfullfilling? There hasn't been any real reason/motive/purpose to hunt for more clues... no story is really being developed and everything is independant of the show. We should be expecting more than a post of some #'s to decode. I really do hope something big develops or is revealed soon. I guess we have all summer. But that is a LONG time to be looking at the same clues over and over agian. I feel like Oliver, "Please sir, may I have some more?" How 'bout it Mr. Abrams? --Jasoncarubia 11:09, 8 May 2006 (PDT)
    • I have a strong suspicion that things are lulling in anticipation of this week's airing of the show. I think there'll probably be another commercial or something stuck in there. I'm wondering how long it'll be before things start getting inserted into the show itself? I do agree though, things are progressing VERY slowly... -- C13 06:20, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
    • The progress can be tracked at ABC's Lost Experience blog as well. I have added the link to the related links. -- Chatake 08:37, 10 May 2006 (PDT)
