The Hanso Foundation is the funding organization behind the DHARMA Initiative. Its founder is the reclusive and mysterious Alvar Hanso. The foundation was first mentioned in the Orientation Film.
There is a website which is officially connected to the show: www.thehansofoundation.org.
Address
From the phone lines:
The Hanso Foundation is located at 544 Orsund Klengvjel DK 1604 Copenhagen V...
- Is "Orsund Klengvjel" possibly an anagram? (in Danish?)
- It is possible that "Orsund" is in fact "Oresund" (Øresund in Danish), the strait between Denmark and Sweden just outside Copenhagen. The address could then refer to somewhere in the Oresund Region.
- The zip code 1604 relates to the street "Kampmannsgade", which is in the metropolitan area of Copenhagen, also a part of the Oresund Region.

The newly relaunched Hanso Foundation website was in conjunction with the kick-off for The Lost Experience, an alternate reality game that was supposed to reveal more clues and easter eggs about Lost. Television advertisements were broadcast directing viewers to call a telephone number, and in turn to go to the Foundation website. The website has now been completely revamped, with more sections and in-depth information about the Foundation and the key people inside the organisation.

The phrase in the title bar, "Permissum Vestri Complector Rector Vos," is in Latin. Not surprisingly, this translates as: "allow your compass to guide you".

Bad Twin Book Info
In chapter 6, the Hanso Foundation (possibly their lab) is located on the 42nd floor of the Widmore Building in New York City. "...they were wearing lab coats... white, some were mint green. Men and women both had neat short hair." A plaque on the wall reads," The Hanso Foundation stands at the vanguard of social and scientific research for the advancement of the human race. For forty years, the foundation has offered grants to worthy experiments designed to further the evolution of the human race and provide technological solutions to the most pressing problems of our time. The Hanso Foundation: a commitment to encouraging excellence in science and technology and furthering the cause of human development."
Also in Chapter 6, Googling "Widmore Corporation" pulls up "references to joint ventures with something called the Hanso Foundation..."
In last chapter, the Widmore Corporation board has Mittelwerk listed as a member from the Hanso Group.
Hanso Foundation Outside Lost
In Mission Impossible III, a Paramount Pictures film directed by Lost's J.J. Abrams, The Hanso Foundation is listed in the "Special Thanks" Section of the Credits.
