Christian Shephard was Jack's father.

  • Played by John Terry.
  • He was the Chief of Surgery at St. Sebastian Hospital where Jack also worked.
  • He operated on a patient under the influence of alcohol
  • Jack told the hospital's review board about his father operating under the influence (in spite of having agreed before to shield his father), so his hospital privileges were revoked
  • Later, in Australia, he met Sawyer in a bar and told him about how his son thought he hated him
  • Went to Australia after his dismissal and went on a drinking binge
  • Sawyer bought the drinks that killed Christian, because he forgot his wallet.
  • Died while in Australia from a heart attack
  • His body is found in an alley in Sydney
  • His son, Jack, identifies his body and prepares to take it back to Los Angeles
  • His body may or may not have been on flight 815 (his coffin was found to be empty)
  • He was seen on the island several times by Jack; at those times he looked surprisingly alive for someone supposed to be in his coffin
  • Jack found his coffin near the caves and the fresh water source, but his body was not there
  • Was seen wearing white Tennis Shoes

Theories

  • His body is not only found in an alley in Sydney but in King's Cross in Sydney. This is an area that is associated with prostitutes, much in the way Times Square in New York used to be associated with prostitutes. Christian Shepard was found without any identification. It may be possible that he was involved with a criminal element, either as a participant or as a victim. His heart attack may have been related to what he was doing in King's Cross.
  • He is the announcer voice at the begining of each episode saying "Previously on Lost"
  • He's alive and he's also Him the, so far, unseen leader of The Others.
  • Uses the phrase "Lest you forget" to Jack. Charlie also uses this phrase to Liam.
  • Christain stopped appearing on the island after he led Jack to his coffin at the caves. He achieved his goal.
