The Man in Black[]

  • She is a form The Man in Black used to begin to manipulate Ben. This would explain why Richard was visibly worried when Ben told him about her.
    • That's not likely: the MiB can only take form of people whose bodies are on the Island. Also, the first appearance of Emily to Ben was outside of a window in his room, but the Barracks were completely sourrounded by the sonar fence that prevents the monster from getting in. The flashbacks also show us that Ben never got out of the Barracks before the first apparition of his mother, so he couldn't have met the Monster and his memory couldn't have been scanned by it. How could the Monster take the form of his mother? This was one of the few apparitions of dead people that can't be ascribed to the MiB. Another one is the apparition of Claudia to the MiB when he was a young boy (surprisingly it's the dead mother who appears to the son in both cases). This one is certainly not linked to Mib or Jacob, cause at the time they didn't have their powers. So, besides the visions, signs and apparitions caused by the two brothers, there are others phenomena caused by the Island itself. The fact that the island manifest itself to Ben means that Ben is special, is sensitive to the island powers, that's why Richard is suddenly so intrested in the kid.
