Daniel Dae Kim was born on August 4, 1968 in Pusan, South Korea. However, Daniel and his family moved to the United States when he was two years old. Hence, Daniel grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College/Bryn Mawr College in Theater & Political Science. Due to his childhood in America, Daniel knew very little Korean until he won the role of Jin-Soo Kwon on Lost, where he was forced to quickly refresh his knowledge of the language. Daniel has said that his co-star Yunjin Kim has been invaluable in coaching him on the language. Daniel is married with two children.
